Due to a design error in the lock, the tool takes advantage of the false gate placement on the levers. The lock can often be picked in 1 or 2 minutes but it does require an understanding of the lock. Once the lock is picked, simply use the security allen wrench provided to put the renter side into neutral, insert the new key and tighten down the change mechanism. This lock can be picked open and reset without removing the lock from the door.

This tool is also very useful for solving "jammed locked open" scenarios when the bank incorrectly set the lock but the door is open. Since one mounting screw is covered when the bolt is extended, even though the door is open you can't unscrew the lock to repair it.
