They are really more known for their awesome CPU coolers. If you have seen a Zalman PC Case they have been very high-end and quiet expensive for most people. Zalman is introducing their first mainstream case, the Z7 Plus that is made to be affordable, but at the same time offer you many features that are found in higher priced cases.
Features — Front side steel mesh bays for intensified cooling — Side panel mm fan for reinforced cooling — Spacious interior — Tool-free 5. Packaging The Z7 Plus comes in a typical case box that has an outline of the case on the front and a list of features we have at the top of this page. About 10 years of computer experience. Been messing around with electronics since I was 5, got into computers when I was in highschool, been modding them ever since then.
Very interested in how things work and their design. It has to be the mesh making the noise as running the replacement fans in free air are virtually silent. Bigger side intake holes probably would impove air flow and reduce noise. And maybe some dimples at the mounting points to get the fan a little bit away from the sidepanel.
The toolfree release is ok for the slots. But holds some cards loosely. The ones for the optical drive is junk. Removed them all and used regular mounting screws. No regular slot covers included. Overall Review: I moved the hard drive cage to the bottom and the 3. Now I can reach my cardreader better.
Plus this makes room for a 2nd fan. The HD cage holds 1 mm fan or 1 mm fan. But if you keep the mm fan you can mount a 2nd mm fan. The fan mounting holes on the drive cage seem to be about the same threading as ordinary case screws. So take 1 mm fan it has to be open frame, included fans are closed frame , 2 case screws and 1 skinny screwdriver. Then mount it in the 2 top holes at the top edge of the drive cage.
It will have serious overhang but works for me. Now I have 2 mm fans up front. It dropped my cpu and northbridges temps 2c idle 2c-4c load vs. This setup leaves only 2 drive bays open. But that's all I use. Pros: I do love this case. It works for me and I can't think of anything that I don't like about it. As far as I'm concerned, Zalman hit a home run with this low priced, quality case. Granted, it may not appeal to everyone, but I am thoroughly pleased.
I don't know about anyone else, but I hate a bottom mounted power supply. The Z7 has a top mount with plenty of working room inside.
Solid construction and quiet zalman case fans and on top of this, its down right attractive. Great case!!! Cons: The only con about this case is that seems to be dicontinued.
There are some still out there. Get one if you can. Sad Zalman, very sad! Cons: Top mounted power supply. Some video card lengths may make you juggle your HD locations.
Pros: Excellent all around value case. Lightweight, great cable management, excellent cooling with a free extra mm fan in the box. Went back and bought a spare. Drive cage needs thumb screws instead of Phillips, but has nice rubber mounts.
I installed micro ata board so plenty of room for cables. Tall CPU cooler fit fine, has nice back hole for mounting backplate. Cons: No Firewire front panel hookup. The fans are worth it. Pros: Great air flow and build quality. Not too gaudy but still ascetically pleasing. Cons: installed 2xgtx's with an EVGA x58 motherboard and the cards and hard drives dont play nice together. Not the case's fault but maybe a slightly better design for all the longer video cards we see coming out.
